About Divya Jyoti Hydropower

Divya Jyoti Hydropower Limited is a Nepalese public company established on 21 February 2008 with the objective of developing and operating hydropower projects and supplying electricity to Nepal’s national grid. The company is currently developing the 50 MW Marsyangdi Besi Hydroelectric Project, a run-of-river project located on the Marsyangdi River in Besisahar Municipality, Lamjung District, Gandaki Province.

Api Power Company Limited is the principal promoter and majority shareholder of the company, providing significant support toward the project’s equity investment and development.

The project has an installed capacity of 50 MW and is designed with four horizontal-axis Francis turbines of 13.75 MW each. With a design discharge of 70 m³/s and a net head of 82.51 metres, the project is expected to generate approximately 321.535 GWh of electricity annually, including 117.890 GWh during the dry season and 203.645 GWh during the wet season.

Electricity generated from the project will be transmitted through a 4 km, 132 kV double-circuit transmission line to Nepal Electricity Authority’s Udipur Substation in Lamjung.

The company has completed the detailed survey, secured the required survey and generation licences, obtained IEE approval, completed land acquisition, and signed a Power Purchase Agreement with Nepal Electricity Authority on 10 Bhadra 2075. Construction of the project is currently underway.
